以下の英文を読んで、設問に答えなさい。
One afternoon, Yuta walked home from school. The sky was already turning orange, and the streets were quieter than usual.
Yuta usually walked home with his friend Takumi, who liked telling stories about strange events. Earlier that day, Takumi talked about a man who thought someone was in his house. In the end, however, there was nothing unusual. Yuta did not believe such stories very much, but he sometimes remembered them when he was alone.
When he reached his house, he noticed something unusual. The front door was not fully closed. He stopped and looked around. No one was outside, and the neighborhood seemed calm. ② Still, he felt slightly uneasy.
He opened the door slowly and stepped inside. The air felt a little cooler than he expected. In the living room, he saw a book on the floor. It was on the table that morning. His sister Mika often read it before going to her club, and she always put it back in the same place. Yuta picked up the book and placed it on the table. Then he noticed that one of the chairs had been moved slightly. He was not sure if the chair was in that position before.

Yuta walked slowly toward the kitchen. He tried to listen carefully, but he could not hear anything else. He looked inside. The room was empty. He returned to the living room and checked the table and the floor again. Everything looked normal, but he still felt uneasy.
As he walked down the hallway, he noticed that the window at the end was slightly open. The curtain moved gently in the wind. At that moment, he heard another sound, this time from behind him. Yuta turned around quickly. His younger brother Kenta was standing there. Kenta often used the back door when he came home early, and he sometimes forgot to close the windows. Yuta let out a breath. Kenta walked past him and looked at the window. “The wind is strong today,” he said quietly.
Yuta nodded, but he did not answer. He looked at the book, the chair, and the window again. Then he understood something. He connected the small changes in the house too quickly and created a story in his mind. Yuta sat down slowly. He realized that his judgment was influenced not only by what he saw, but also by what he heard earlier. After a few minutes, he said to himself, “I need to look at things more carefully.”

ある日の午後、ユウタは学校から家へ歩いて帰っていた。空はすでにオレンジ色に変わり始め、通りはいつもより静かだった。
ユウタは普段、友達のタクミと一緒に帰っていた。タクミは不思議な出来事についての話をするのが好きだった。その日の早い時間にも、タクミは、自分の家に誰かがいると思い込んだ男の話をしていた。しかし結局は、何も異常はなかったのだった。ユウタはそのような話をあまり信じていなかったが、一人でいるときには時々思い出すことがあった。
家に着くと、彼は何かおかしいことに気づいた。玄関のドアが完全には閉まっていなかったのだ。彼は立ち止まり、周囲を見回した。外には誰もおらず、近所は静かだった。それでも、彼は少し不安を感じた。
彼はゆっくりとドアを開け、中に入った。空気は思っていたよりも少し冷たく感じられた。リビングに入ると、床に本が落ちているのが見えた。その本は今朝、テーブルの上にあったものだった。妹のミカはクラブ活動に行く前によくそれを読んでおり、いつも同じ場所に戻していた。ユウタは本を拾い上げ、テーブルの上に置いた。そして、椅子の一つが少し動かされていることに気づいた。その椅子が以前その位置にあったのかどうか、彼にははっきりしなかった。
ユウタはあまり心配性な性格ではなかったが、自分で説明できない変化は好きではなかった。しばらくして、キッチンのほうから小さな音が聞こえた。彼は動きを止めた。タクミの話が頭に浮かんできた。彼の心臓は速く打ち始めた。
ユウタはゆっくりとキッチンのほうへ歩いていった。注意深く耳を澄ませたが、それ以上の音は聞こえなかった。中をのぞくと、部屋には誰もいなかった。彼はリビングに戻り、テーブルと床をもう一度確認した。すべては普通に見えたが、それでも不安な気持ちは消えなかった。
廊下を歩いていると、突き当たりの窓が少し開いていることに気づいた。カーテンが風にやさしく揺れていた。そのとき、今度は後ろから別の音が聞こえた。ユウタはすばやく振り向いた。弟のケンタがそこに立っていた。ケンタは早く帰ってくるときにはよく裏口を使い、窓を閉め忘れることもあった。ユウタはほっと息をついた。ケンタは彼の横を通り過ぎ、窓を見た。「今日は風が強いね」と彼は静かに言った。
ユウタはうなずいたが、何も答えなかった。彼は本と椅子と窓をもう一度見た。そして、あることに気づいた。家の中の小さな変化をあまりにも早く結びつけてしまい、自分の頭の中で一つの話を作り上げてしまっていたのだ。ユウタはゆっくりと座った。自分の判断が、目に見えたことだけでなく、先に聞いた話にも影響されていたことに気づいた。数分後、彼はつぶやいた。
